The peaceful country village of Balsicas is located in Murcia, around 15 minutes away from the beaches of Los Alcazares. With a classically Spanish character, the first thing you will be struck by on entering the village is the gorgeous golden colour of many of the buildings.

Most notable of these is the Castillo de Ros, a stunning castle once occupied by the monks of the Order of San Felipe Neri. Take a peek beyond its imposing gates to find a veritable Aladdin's cave of architectural salvage, with statues, ornate gilt furniture, huge wooden doors, and other curious items.

Head into the village itself to discover a tempting selection of bars, cafes and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. On Thursdays, you can browse the popular street market which is held in the village centre or perhaps stroll the immaculate plazas which lead to Balsicas' pretty park.

Venture beyond the village past lemon and orange groves and you will find golf courses in virtually every direction, not to mention breath taking views of the Mar Menor and Murcia mountains.

Community

This is a large village with a majority Spanish population and a smaller population of British expats. There is a real community spirit with a friendly and welcoming feel.
